The Healthy Hot Chocolate

Ever crave a hot chocolate, only to reach for a premade packet full of sugar, conventional dairy, and unhealthy additives? Put that packet down, you have options you can feel good about.




 

The General Recipe (to be customized)

Makes 2 servings


  • 2 cups of your base liquid of choice and/or nut-based creamer or milk

  • 3 tablespoons of cocoa powder

  • 2 teaspoons of your herbal additives (herbal/mushroom powders)

  • Pinch of sea salt & sweetener of choice

  • Garnish


Directions: Simmer water over medium-high heat, and whisk in your cocoa and powdered herbal additives. Next, add your creamer/milk and a touch of sweetener. Garnish, serve and enjoy.

 

Customize your hot chocolate by choosing your ingredients:


The base

  • Water

  • Long infused chai with herbs of vanilla bean, saffron, cardamom, ginger, and cinnamon (or a long infusion customized by your herbalist for your needs)

  • Decaf coffee

  • Not-coffee-coffee decoction of roasted herbal roots (customized by your herbalist for your needs)

The Chocolate

  • Cocoa powder

  • Unsweetened block chocolate or chips

The creamer

  • Nut-based creamers or milks of coconut, almond or macadamia (unsweetened)

  • Coconut butter

  • Vanilla ghee

The sweetener

  • Maple syrup

  • Honey

  • Herbal infused honey

Optional additives

  • Collagen powder

  • Mushroom powders

  • Vanilla extract or bean

  • Hydrolyzed beef or bone broth protein powder (*free of cane sugar)

  • Herbal powders (customized by your herbalist for your needs)

The garnish (optional)

  • Cinnamon powder

  • Nutmeg powder

  • Crushed rose petals

  • Vanilla bean


*Cocoa contains caffeine - best enjoyed during the day.
